Hi all, and welcome to your English page for Term 1, 2020 at Muliyan. Over the course of the term you will be exploring communication and what text actually is (big hint…it’s not just books…). Ok, first things first, lets make some learning intentions clear for this Term…who doesn’t love some learning intentions?? You will find your achievement standards below – the achievement standards are what you will be assessed on and reported on. How you meet a standard and what this work looks like is guided by you and your passions – no two pieces of work are the same, just as none of you are identical. So, this semester we will be considering the following;

Year 9 English Achievement Standards, Term 1, 2020

Students analyse the ways that text structures can be manipulated for effect. They analyse and explain how images, vocabulary choices and language features distinguish the work of individual authors.

They make presentations and contribute actively to class and group discussions, comparing and evaluating responses to ideas and issues.

Year 10 English Achievement Standards, Term 1, 2020

Students evaluate how text structures can be used in innovative ways by different authors. They explain how the choice of language features, images and vocabulary contributes to the development of individual style.

They make presentations and contribute actively to class and group discussions, building on others’ ideas, solving problems, justifying opinions and developing and expanding arguments.
